Welcome!

In December, 1999 the Board of the Directors of the OKC Gun Club unanimously approved the formation of a Women's Division.  Coincidently, during the same month, the NRA created the Women on Target program that aimed at providing opportunities for women in shooting.  Together they formed a partnership in organizing the First Annual Women's Fun shoot on September 8, 2000.   Grants were applied for and funded to the newly formed Women's Division by the NRA Foundation via the Heartland Friends of the NRA and the Women on Target program of the NRA.

57 women attended the inaugural shoot in 2000 and last year's registration topped 300 registrants.  As a result, Oklahoma City Gun Club has hosted the nation's largest instructional shooting clinic for women for the past 8 years.

The "Women's Fun Shoot" has continued to grow and be successful through the efforts of the Women's Division, which the charter members are Suzi Rouse, Joann Burner, Susan Cusack, Sharon Conrady, Pam Green, Sandy Payne, Dawn Taylor, Diana Hannah and Kansas Conrady.   These nine women became NRA certified instructors in pistol, rifle, shotgun and range officer disciplines through funding and support of the Women on Target program. Their backgrounds varied from a housewife to a FBI Agent.  They all had one focus and that was to provide an opportunity to learn various shooting sports and firearm safety to women who have an interest.  We have since added new women instructors and are always looking for eager qualified volunteers!

The most recent additions to the "Pink Ladies" are Sandra Jeter, Debbie Hamble, Suzanne Black and Tera Leiter.   We are thrilled to have the celebrity clout of The 500 lb. Gorilla Ron Black of Super Talk WKY 930 Radio's lovely wife, Suzanne; not to mention the fact we have the honor of having the better half of Scott Leiter of "Hunt, Sleep, Fish" television fame!  - Terra Leiter.   Sandy Jeter is a registered nurse on the Nat'l/State Board; and Debbie Hamble is a retired school teacher and professional.   We are blessed to have such a high caliber of women.

We have ladies that come from all over Oklahoma and surrounding states.  Ladies that work together, mothers and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, women from all walks of life participate in this event and we encourage anyone who has an interest in participating to sign up for a fun filled day of firearms safety and actual range time with a 22 rifle, various calibers of pistols, 20 gauge shotgun and AR-15s.
